The information about Muhoozi Kainerugaba in the Wikipedia Screenshot being shared on Social Media is altered.


A screenshot of a Wikipedia page about Lieutenant General and Commander of the Special Forces Command Muhoozi Kainerugaba has been making rounds on social media. In the Screenshot, it appears that Wikipedia describes Muhoozi as the "...Commander of the Special Forces Group, a group also responsible for extrajudicial abductions, torture, disappearance and killings against the political opposition."

URN Fact Check has cross checked with Muhoozi's Wikipedia information and what is in the viral screenshot is not what appears on Wikipedia. The information was altered.

We found out that some of the statements in the screenshot are not in Muhoozi’s Wikipedia biography.
On the official Wikipedia website, Muhoozi is described as “…a Ugandan military officer. He is a Lieutenant General in the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) and is the commander of the Special Forces command,SFC is responsible for the security of the president of Uganda, the commander in chief of the UPDF , having been appointed on 16 December 2020 by Yoweri Museveni. Lt. Gen. Muhoozi served in the same position from 2008 to 2017. He is the son of President Yoweri Museveni, Commander in Chief of the UPDF and president of Uganda. Muhoozi has served as Senior Presidential Adviser for Special Operations since 2017.”
